Non-Surgical Back Pain Solutions In Winooski, VT

Your Alternative to Back Surgery

Have you been told that epidural steroid injections or invasive surgery are your only options to treat your back pain? Interventional orthopedics provides a non-surgical alternative that uses your own cells to repair the damage.

Steroid epidurals that place steroid medication around irritated or inflamed nerves in the spine do help patients avoid surgery for a time. The very high dose of steroids, however, can also cause severe side effects and actually reduce the body’s ability to heal ultimately leading to degeneration of the tissue and actually speeding the need for surgery.

Spinal fusion surgery is a highly invasive procedure that has a significant risk of complications. Research shows that complications occur in 36% of fusion patients while 76% still require narcotics for pain following their recovery from surgery. Surgical patients also miss three times as much work as those who don’t have surgery. A simple injection of your own cells, by contrast, has less than a 0.1% risk while the results of a spine fusion cannot be reversed and are categorized as a high-risk procedure with little guarantee of success.

At Regenexx we invented a new approach to orthopedic care we call Interventional Orthopedics. This approach involves the use of image guidance (flouroscopy and ultrasound) to precisely place high-dose cells from your body directly where they are needed in a specific joint structure. These cells then work in the site of your injury to grow into new, healthy tissue, a process that will only occur if the cells have been placed exactly where they need to go in order to achieve positive outcomes for the patient. This precise approach to orthopedic care can’t be replicated by a surgeon or nurse in a chiropractor’s office. Interventional Orthopedics requires thousands of hours of training following a standardized protocol process to become a licensed Regenexx physician.

Regenexx has more than a decade of experience in interventional orthopedic treatments for spine pain that allows us to address as many factors as possible to gain insight into the true cause of the problem.  We identify the most probable sources of pain and select the most appropriate treatment options available. Only then can the natural healing process be initiated using the safest, least invasive procedure possible.

The innovative Regenexx procedures help restore spinal function and decrease pain without the need for surgery. During this outpatient procedure, our expert physicians use precise image guidance to inject custom concentrations of your body’s natural healing mechanisms into and around the areas of damage to help stabilize your spine and improve overall function and mobility.

This page contains an extensive library of educational resources on spine conditions and our patented spine procedures created by Regenexx and our founder, Chris Centeno, M.D.. We encourage you to research your options.
